Breville Oracle Jet: your first espresso shot
Start with 22 g of coffee in and 44 g in the cup (1:2) for a medium roast. The grind number depends on your grinder: find yours below, then taste and adjust.
The recipe
- Dose: 22 g (the machine grinds, doses and tamps about 22 g into the 58 mm portafilter; weigh one dose to check).
- Stop at: 44 g in the cup (1:2) for a medium roast, 55 g for a light roast. The presets stop by time or volume (Settings > Brew control settings). Tap the screen to stop the shot when the scale reads your target weight.
- Temperature: Temperature: 92 °C. Settings > Temperature settings, in 1-degree steps (°F or °C, chosen in the settings menu). Breville says the heated group holds 93 °C.
Where to start on your grinder
Starting settings in each grinder's own numbers. They are starting points from the makers' published ranges, not a guarantee: taste decides. Tap a setting for the full recipe with your roast and the next-shot fix, or a grinder for its light and dark starting points.
